Losing a Daughter

The piano is the site of a discrete memorial corner. If you didn’t know this you might assume it was just another living room display surface, or that the silver tanker was just an ordinary vase. But propped up in the corner is a book of photos made by one of her best friends, and they treasure the shots in it of her looking so happy, and getting ready with her girlfriends for nights out. The corner is part of the morning's ritual: coming downstairs, making a cup of tea, and turning towards it to greet her in thought.
